Paul Gayter, Vision
Paul is an experienced, world-class marketing, advertising, and communications professional. He has worked as an International Creative Director, Executive Creative Director and art director, writer, for some of the most renowned agencies in the world — Leo Burnett, Saatchi & Saatchi, Ogilvy, and Arnold Worldwide, included. He is also a proud entrepreneur and owner/Chief Creative Officer of Brainwave, one of DC’s premier boutique brand marketing agencies.
Over the years, Paul has been responsible for the advertising accounts of 15 of the top 100 global brands. He has created campaigns that have delivered tremendous results for his clients — including global and national campaigns that have helped companies like Mobil, Reebok, Wrangler, Seven Up, Cable & Wireless, Lockheed Martin, and McDonalds to differentiate themselves in the marketplace, increase their market share, drive their revenues up by multi- millions of dollars, and become the number 1 or number 2 brands in their market sectors.
Paul also has a proven history of creating compelling, game-changing marketing campaigns for social cause clients. These include the “We’re here because they’re out there” for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), which has raised over $80 million and allowed NCMEC to establish an entire division to help sexually exploited children and their families; the “Helping children live happily ever after” campaign for ChildHelp, which contributed to the most significant fundraising success in the organization’s history; and “Be-cigarettesafe” for LG Chem, which has reached millions of Americans and educated them about the dangers of e-cigarettes.
As well as being a successful creative director, Paul has extensive and wide-ranging executive management and business experience to offer too. He has been an international and national Creative Director, overseeing and inspiring large teams of creative personnel as they developed campaigns; he was a vital member of the Executive Management team at Arnold Worldwide that grew the DC office from $30 million to $200 million in three years while managing an agency staff of 200. And he co-founded Brainwave and won the business and confidence of global and national clients, including Lockheed Martin, Sallie Mae, KPMG, and Software AG.
Paul has won several significant awards for his work — including Britain’s D & ADs, Campaign Press and Campaign Silver Awards, and America’s Clio’s and Addy’s. However, the recognition that will always means the most to him is the “National Volunteer of the Year” award that he received from the US Department of Justice in 2004, for the pro bono campaign that he and Brainwave developed for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) — a campaign that has raised over $80 million to date and is helping NCMEC make a huge difference in the lives of sexually exploited children and their families.
One of Paul’s greatest assets is his ability to spot holes in the market and use his creativity to provide solutions. Therefore, having personally experienced all the problems faced by millions of Americans as they try to help their loved ones through addiction and into recovery, Paul created All Sober, along with his wife, Flora Nicholas, to provide exactly what’s needed at every stage of the recovery process and beyond.
Paul graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a BA Hons degree in Communication Arts. He is also a gallery represented artist, illustrator, designer, and is a devoted father to two inspirational children, an eclectic collector of many things, and is not as active at soccer as he’d like to be.
